YB. P. KAMALANATHAN PRAISED THE ORGANIZERS

IPOH: Deputy Education Minister, Honourable, P Kamalanathan praised the organizers of the 4th Asian Schools Hockey Tournament 2014 which ended here yesterday.

“ Through out the tournament we witnessed excellent organization. On behalf of the Malaysian Government, I wish to congratulate the Asian School Sports Federation (ASSF) and the local organizing committee for the great work.

“Your commitments, perseverance and dedication in promoting and staging this tournament are simply amazing and laudable,” he said while closing the tournament at the Azlan Shah Stadium.

He noted that a tremendous spirit of friendship prevailed thus promoting the spirit of solidarity making the tournament a perfect platform to achieve it.

The deputy miniter also congratulated the victorious teams and hoped the losers will use the experience to improve themselves.

MALAYSIA RETAINS TITLE



IPOH: Host, Malaysia as expected, defended the Asian Schools Hockey title after beating Singapore 10-0 at the Azlan Shah Stadium, Ipoh. 

In the one sided final match, the homesters were far superior for the Lions, who for the first time appeared in the final. Although the Singaporeans tried to give a fight to the Malaysians they were outclassed in every department throughout the game.

Malaysia led 6-0 in the first half with tournament’s top scorer, Nik Muhd Aiman Nik Rozemi’s open scoring in the 3rd minute and soon the goals came one after another and Singapore lost in the game.
Other Malaysian scorers were Muhd Hafizuddin Zaidi (2), Muhd Najme Ahmad Hayazi (2) and one each by Mawardi Hamirin, Khairul Helmi Napi, Abdul Khaliq Hamirin, Muhd Luqman Hakim and Luqman Nul Hakim Ahmad Shukran.
 
Malaysia also won two other awards that were “Man of the Match” by Muhd Hafizuddin Zaidi and “Player of the Tournament” by Luqman Nul Hakim Ahmad Shukran.
