SINGAPORE ENTERS FINAL

IPOH:  Singapore qualify for the 4th Asian Schools Hockey Tournament when they whipped Indonesia 8-0 in the semifinals at the Azlan Shah Stadium, yesterday evening.

The win came as no surprise as the Singaporeans had maintained a clean record to top Group B.

They will now meet defending champion and host, Malaysia in the final tomorrow. Malaysia is expected to defend the title won in 2006 in Kuantan.

Singapore started cautiously and took 14 minutes to break the opponent's defence through Darren Dian Lun Sia’s field goal.

Eight minutes later Muhammed Fauzi A Wahab, who scored a hat trick in this game, found the net from a penalty corner for Singapore to lead 2-0 at half time.

Muhammad Mikaaiel increased Singapore’s lead in the 50th minute followed by Dineshraj Naidu  (52 and 57), Fauzi (54 and 64) before Gurveer Singh wrapped up the game with a goal from a penalty corner in the 69th minute.
